This table's boldly sculptural carved ends with their addorsed winged griffins flanking a mask and united by a balustrade is part of a group of mid-sixteenth century French furniture inspired by Italian designs. Closely related tables are illustrated in J. Boccador, Le Mobilier Francais du Moyen Age a la Renaissance, pp.265-70.
