The distinctive proportions and rich floral carving of these impressive chairs are typical of the work of Genose chair-makers. Closely related chairs with cushion-molded frames punctuated by floral cresting and foliate-carved knees are illustrated in L. Canonero, Il Barocchetto Genovese, Milan, 1962, plates CIV, CV, CXII.
