A RARE CARVED LONGQUAN CELADON BALUSTER JAR AND COVER
YUAN DYNASTY (1279-1368)
The well-potted, globular body carved with a wide band of composite foliate scroll above a band of upright leaves, covered with an even glaze of olive-green tone stopping neatly above the foot rim, the mouth rim left unglazed and burnt brownish-orange in the firing, the cover with undulating scalloped edges, encircled by a similar foliate scroll pattern and surmounted by a stem finial, the rim on the underside left unglazed
