The neck and lower register carved with pavilions nestled amidst pale celadon rocks and pine trees with copper-red trunks on the shores of a lake or river, with mountains in the distance, the rounded mid-section decorated with two chilong separated by sprigs of lingzhi fungus

Lot Essay

J. M. Hu (1910-1993) was a well-known collector of Chinese ceramics, and one of the founders of Min Chiu Society in Hong Kong. Born in Shanghai, he was once appointed a director in the Ceramics Department of the Palace Museum in 1945. Part of his collection is now housed in the Shanghai Museum.
