A RARE BLUE AND WHITE DEEP DISH
CIRCA 1630-40
With steep sides and everted rim, painted at the centre of the interior with a fisherman reclining on his boat in a rocky riverscape, the sides with a continuous scene of five seated figures, a standing farmer, and a deer amongst European buildings and grassy mounds, the wide rim with numerous similar buildings, each with a cross at either end of the roof, some with spires, and two farmers, one standing by a duck pond, the exterior with four roundels enclosing figures on the side and eight smaller bird and foliage roundels under the rim
11¼ in. (28.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay
