Accompanied by Patek Philippe Certificat d'Origine dated 28 August 1987 confirming the production of the present watch with white lacquer dial and applied white gold Breguet numerals. Furthermore delivered with the original sales tag and the Extract from the Archives stating production of the present watch in 1977 and its subsequent sale on 26 August 1987.
The present watch is a highly exclusive version of a reference 3619 two time zone wristwatch, fitted with an attractive white lacquer dial and applied white gold Breguet numerals. Until to date, only one other example of this reference with such a dial has appeared in public, sold in 1990.
As its peers, the present watch was originally fitted with a blue or black dial with diamond indexes. As requested by the present owner, this dial has been exchanged against the white lacquer version in the salons of Patek Philippe in Geneva upon purchase of the watch in 1987, confirmed by the Certificate of Origin.
Since this day, the watch has remained in the same family, unused and locked away in a vault, until its consignment to this auction in 2008. It is undoubtedly, thanks to the exclusive and beautiful dial with the much sought-after Breguet numerals, one of the most attractive examples of a reference 3619 to appear in public. The combination of its literally new condition, the appealing white dial with Breguet numerals, absolute freshness to the market and private provenance render this watch an exquisite treasure for the discerning collector.
Reference 3619, one of Patek Philippe's rarest modern complicated timepieces, was introduced into the market in 1976 and is thought that an exceedingly small series of approximately 50 examples where made, all in white gold cases, the majority with dark blue or black dials and diamond-set numerals and with leather straps. A small series was made with integral gold bracelet. According to our researches, the present watch is one of less than 15 examples of this reference to appear in public to date and only the second one with such a dial.
