Lot Essay

Reference 5514 is amongst the rarest of all Submariner models, according to literature only around 150 examples were made for and sold exclusively to COMEX. It was never available to the public.

The example here is particularly appealing as it meets the demanding requirements of scholars and collectors alike: the attractive and unrestored dial combined with the well-preserved case, the correct case and the hack feature movement are musts for the COMEX aficionado. Thanks to its rich history of deep sea diving and the fact that the public could never acquire this model render it a trophy for any collector of Submariner watches.
