The present watch is certainly one of the most attractive Daytonas for any aficionado of sport chronographs. A reference 6239 from the mid 1960s featuring the pure non-Paul Newman dial, the designation "Daytona" is still printed above the centre and not yet around the 12 hours register at 6 o'clock as found on examples from the 1970s. Its charisma is the result of the fascinating colour of the subsidiary dials which over the years has changed from black to a warm chocolate brown.
An other Daytona with a nearly identical dial featuring the same "Daytona" logo and brown subsidiary dials is described and illustrated in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo, Editore, p. 304 & 305.
