Blue interlaced L's enclosing date letter I for 1761-1762, painter's mark for Viellard, incised CT
The center painted in bright colors in the style of François Boucher with a young boy and girl fishing, the border with three vines of fruit and flowers, each within a blue feuille-de-choux panel, the alternate portions of the rim similarly enriched in gilt

Lot Essay

Active at Vincennes and Sèvres for over forty-eight years, André-Vincent Viellard père is recorded as a painter whose broad range included figures, landscapes, trophies, patterns and flowers.
