The rectangular top with later gadroon-carved edge above four drawers, each with bead-and reel-carved moldings and pulls in the form of heads of men, the top drawer with a central associated lion mask, the sides with carved female figures and term figures, on a later gadroon-carved base and paw feet, the top drawer inscribed in red paint '1927.90', stencilled in white paint on back 'CF'and bearing a paper label inscribed in ink 'Case...Home(?) N. 3716285', the bearded mask handles and figural term figures probably original
42½ in. (108 cm.) high, 59½ in. (151 cm.) wide, 27¾ in. (70.5 cm.) deep

A related commode with similar large-scale mask centring the top drawers, flanked by carved figural uprights, formerly in the Palazzo Mansi, Lucca, is illustrated in W.
