Examples of this design were first exhibited at the Not Made By Hand, Not Made in China exhibition, Milan 2000. Displayed were objects created with rapid-prototyping technologies, to include stereolithography and laser-sintering. By adjusting the tension of the suspension cables, the polyamide spiral can be extended.
