更多詳情
The present work appears to be a study for a more complete scheme sold in these Rooms 'Study for a Decoration: Le Pays des Cavernes Miraculeurs' [sic], dated 1909, 21 March 1996, lot 55. The figure on the right hand side is that of the artist's first wife, Ida Nettleship. Although a posthumous drawing of Ida, 'Le Pays des Cavernes Miraculeuses' may refer to a fantasy she had about a magical land that she relayed to her husband in life.
