Other Peruvian incense burners or Sahumador, including another turkey as well as a llama on a nearly identical base to the present example are illustrated in A.L. Ribera and H.H. Schenone, Platería Sudamericana de los Siglos XVII-XX, Munich, 1981, p. 297-302, figs. 378-385 and another similar example was sold Christie's New York, 16 May 1995, lot 112.
