FIRST EDITION. As Guthrie had no alcohol he made chloroform from whiskey and chlorinated lime (Gedeon p. 194). Garrison-Morton 1850/5648; Norman 959. Also in the volume is Guthrie's 'Notice of the Vaporization of Mercury in the Fumes of Nitric Ether' (pp.90-94).
