Barton, born in Ireland, accompanied Mildred Anne Butler to London to study under Paul Naftel in 1903 and re settled in Knightsbridge, she had already been elected an associate member of both the Society of Women Artists (1886) and the Royal Society of Painters in Water-Colour (1893; full member 1911). Her watercolours were suited for publication and were printed in Familiar London, 1904, The Ramparts of Empire (illustrated with Norman Wilkinson in 1910) and ontributions to London (1915). She died in London on 10 October 1929.
She was particularly noted for the atmospheric effects she brought into her townscapes and became well known in Dublin and London.
