Evie Hone was directly related to both the first Nathaniel Hone (see lot 18) and also the second Nathaniel Hone (see lots 27-31). A stained glass artist of international repute, she came to the medium of stained glass having already established herself as an outstanding religious painter.

The window in Eton College Chapel, bequeathed to Maynooth College by the artist, was erected in 1952.

Evie Hone was one of the founding members of the IELA (Irish Exhibition of Living Art) and the present work was exhibited at the Memorial Exhibition in 1955.
