While one cannot be certain, this is probably the Village in the West composition that Henry first included in his 1917 Dublin exhibition. Reviewing that show the Freeman's Journal (16 April 1917) commented upon the work 'with its white-washed cabins strung out at the base of the sombre peaks that tower over them as menacing as the hills in "Childe Roland" that "Like giants at a hunting lay, Chin upon hand to see the game at bay"'.
