A Nuremberg-type compound monocular microscope
German, late 18th century
branded on the underside of the wooden base with the maker's mark IM, screw caps for eyepiece and objective lenses, turned fruit wood tube with two 'step'-pattern decorated draw tubes covered in colour-printed or embossed patterned-paper, the oak square section base with slide location and swivel mirror (mirror flaked with minor loss of silvering).
