the ivory carved into a floral pattern on the lid and side, four engraved concentric circles on the underside, the silver hour ring engraved 4-12-8 and signed C.BLOVD A.DIEPPE, engraved folding silver gnomon for 48° [approx.], an engraved silver eight-point compass rose, with initials and fleur-de-lys, needle, the lid carries a silver lunar volvelle, engraved 0-29[½], 1-12 twice, the central rotating silver disc with index pointer and viewing window engraved 1-12 twice, foliage motif
