Château Léoville-Barton--Vintage 1966
Saint-Julien, 2me cru classé
Slightly corroded capsules. Levels: one base of neck, three top, one just below top and one mid/upper shoulder
Tasting note: The 1966 is a good, reliable wine that, in view of the vintage, could perhaps have been better. A moderately intense, spicy, fruity bouquet that exhibits plenty of oak is seductive enough. However, the palate impression is that austerity dominates the fruit. Fully mature, but capable of holding, this is a good, but hardly top-rank 1966. Robert Parker, Bordeaux Book, 3rd Edition # B1 (Jan 1998)
