Tasting note: All of the DRC wines were bottled barrel by barrel in 1964, leading no doubt to some interesting cases of bottle variation. However, there was no problem with this bottle. The wine had a roasted bouquet of sweet, jammy fruit, prunes, and gamy, smokehouse aromas. In the mouth, there is a sweet, candy-like texture, as well as extraordinary richness and length. The bottle was in superb condition, and the wine was not only enormous in size and weight, but thrilling to drink. Who knows whether it will last more than another decade.
