Château Latour--Vintage 1986
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Tasting Note: I expected this to be mammoth and undrinkable, but from the start, though clearly a long haul wine, it had a lovely fruit and flesh. Yet, very tannic in its formative years, it was always a fascinating mouthful. Only one recent note, tasted blind, level pegging with Mouton but, surprisingly less deep, more amenable and attractive than the Lafite. Well balanced. Crisp fruit. Sept 1998 ****. M.B
