Château Cos d'Estournel--Vintage 1953
Saint-Estèphe, 2me cru classé
Bin-soiled labels. Levels upper-shoulder
Tasting note: Tasted 4 Times With Virtually Identical Notes The 1953, most recently drunk from magnums in 1994, 1993, and 1989, is a classic example of the vintage, displaying a huge, fragrant, flowery, berry-scented nose. From a regular bottle I suspect this wine could be on the downside, but from pristinely kept magnums, this fully mature wine is a terrific example of the vintage, and certainly one of the greatest wines of the century. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate # 95 (Oct 1994)
