As student to Ruskin, Millais, and Rosetti among others, the artist and designer Walter Crane worked to bring art into the daily lives of all classes; his pre-Raphaelite and Art Nouveau designs were intended for media ranging from raised tiles to easel paintings, and often included textile designs such as this example.
