A lacquer suzuribako (writing box)
Edo period, late 18th/19th Century
Of rectantular shape with rounded corners, the nashiji ground decorated in hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, and hirame and inlaid with silver metal, the top with a waterfall cascading between rocks, the inner lid with the two rocks of Futami-ga-ura against a large full moon, fitted with a tray around the slate inkstone and with a silver 'peony' water dropper, small damage to corner
