Each with varying scrolling foliate ornament, on paw feet, one stamped 'No. 3 prepared by Chhaganal & Vraijlal, sons to Mistry Raghunath Tribhovan, Visnagar N Gujarat, Baroda State, India', the other inscribed in paint 'D. M. M.' and with a paper label stamped 'M. Moore', variations in size and decoration

Lot Essay

Chhaganlal and Vrajlal Tribhuvan, the sons of Raghunatu Tribhuvan, a specialist craftsman who produced silver and brass-covered furniture, commonly signed their footstools in English or Gujarati. Similar stools have come onto the market in the past twenty years. All are square, with gadrooned edges and pronounced paw feet.
