Circular, the cover, sides and base engine-turned and semé with trefoils, within chased foliate borders, marked inside base and cover, warden's marks indistinct, and on bezel, with charge and discharge marks of Henri Clavel, and with later French control marks

Pierre-Charles Mané advertised in Le Journal de Paris on June 28, 1778, describing various objects decorated by guilloché, or engine-turning, declaring "toutes ces pièces tournées par le sieur Mané, orfèvre, rue des Arcis, presentées à l'Academie des Sciences, à qui il propose de les laisser comme des preuves de ce qu'il peut executér sur les tours dont la perfection lui appartient." (Nocq, p. 183) Mané remained at the rue des Arcis until 1793.
