The composition follows the engraving from the New Testament series by Johannes Sadeler, dated 1582 (Holl.267), after a drawing by Maerten de Vos (Hessisches Landesmuseum, Darmstadt, inv.no.AE443). The architectural background differs from the one in the engraving.
