A painted pottery figure of a warrior, Tang Dynasty (618-906)
modelled standing on an oval platform, wearing a helmet and armoured tunic with re-enforced beast-head shoulders and scrolling breastplate, high notched boots and red pantaloons, his left hand with the palm held out in warning, the other holding the hilt of a sword, covered with the remains of yellow, black and red pigments -- 26¾in. (68cm.) high.
