Dedicated to the crafting and dreaming of his paintings, Su's works are approachable and admired for Su's delicate and passionate application of his ideas and dreams onto canvases. Though many artists tire from one medium and interchange between creating sculptures, installations and drawing, Su finds painting tireless for it is a medium which ceaselessly presents new possibilities for his artistic creations. Strongly influenced by his immediate surroundings and dreams, Su strives to capture an element of time and atmosphere in all his works. The resulting pieces are not extravagant but ethereal, one that is spiritual and calming.

In C04 (Lot 447), we find a canvas rolled and stored as a classical Chinese hanging scroll would. It's long and slender shape lends itself to the various calm yet bright colour blocks, an abstraction of a dream perhaps where little true shapes exist. The ambigious title allows the viewer to imagine what the inspiration for this piece was. Was it a neighbours door or a mere dream? We are confronted with nebulous clouds of colour meandering along the dividing edges of colour, which evoke a dream like quality, emphasized by the reflective sheen of the canvas. Similarly ethereal and inviting is C-19 The Wall (Lot 448) where bright spills of blue cling to the edges like receding puddles of water. The red doors in the back suggest a wall, perhaps from one of the classrooms where he taught as a professor. Yet again the small blotches of colour intersperse freely. Su has vivaciously applied these abstractions thus demonstrating his profound love for painting and self-awareness as an artist. He does not rely on the influences of other artists but on his inner yearnings affected by his immediate environment.
