AN UNUSUAL AUSTRIAN PROCESSIONAL SWORD
17TH CENTURY
With short broad flat blade widening towards the middle, etched with the Imperial double eagle charged with the bindenschild and a large Imperial crown below the hilt on one side, iron slender scrolling quillons, small double ring-guard, original wooden three-stage grip of exaggerated length covered with fabric (heavily worn) and studded with domed brass nails, and large iron pommel formed of beaded openwork bars joined by a cap finial.
