A RARE CASED 60-BORE PERCUSSION SIX-SHOT SELF-COCKING OPEN-FRAME REVOLVER BY W.SMITH, BIRMINGHAM
No. 717, CIRCA 1855-60
With signed blued octagonal sighted barrel engraved at the rear, retained by a screw entering the frame on the same axis and fitted with case-hardened two-part plunger rammer, case-hardened cylinder with chambers numbered 1-6, finely engraved blued frame inscribed 'Patent' on the left and fitted with blued spring-safety, chequered figured walnut butt with engraved case-hardened cap and hinged trap-cover, and much orignial finish throughout, maker's mark W.S, Birmingham proof marks: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with some accessories including flask and 54-bore bullet mould.
