With earlier rifled heavy swamped octagonal sighted barrel (light pitting), flat lock cut with a landscape vignette of St. George within a frame of scrollwork, partly on a contrasting blackened recessed ground, engraved with the maker's initials 'MF' and signed by the engraver 'Io.NagnZau', the dog decorated with a warrior, fruitwood full stock (fore-end repaired), the rear half inlaid with a series of engraved horn and mother-of-pearl plaques within a scheme of scrolling tendrils, pellets and flowerheads, including a naively drawn stag-shooting scene, The Annunciation of the Virgin together with the date and the owner's initials, and game animals pursued by a hound opposite the lock, with inlaid sliding patch-box cover, iron trigger-guard, and ramrod (fore-end cap replaced).
