THIRD QUARTER OF THE 17TH CENTURY
With swamped octagonal sighted barrel struck with maker's initials 'MS' a crossed hammers mark between, plain flat lock with external wheel and sliding pan-cover, walnut full stock decorated over its rear half with incised and punched patterns and with segmental lines enclosing naively drawn engraved horn plaques, fitted with matching sliding patch-box cover, fluted fore-end, engraved horn ramrod-pipe and fore-end cap, horn butt-plate, iron trigger-guard, and later ramrod.
