PHILLIPS, Richard (1767-1840). Modern London; being the History and Present State of the British Metropolis. London: Richard Phillips, 1805. 4° (262 x 206mm). Folding engraved frontispiece view of London, 22 plates, including one plan, and 31 hand-coloured plates of traders of London (part of lower margin of frontispiece torn away, the view also laid down, tear affecting plan repaired on verso, lightly browned and some light spotting throughout). Contemporary diced calf (rebacked and recornered, new endpapers). Provenance: slip with a presentation inscription to William Collins from George A. Anderson, dated Belfast 1893 (pasted on endpaper); erased inscription on title.
