A courteous letter sending greetings by the King's secretary and asking for news from her correspondent: 'Le Roy envoye devers vous maistre Estienne Petit son notaire et secret[air]e ainsi quil vous escript Auquel Jay charge Vous dire aucunes choses de ma part. Je vous prye mon cousin que vueillez croyre dece quil vous dira depar moy comme ma propre personne et par lui me faire favour de vos nouvelles en quoy je prandrais ung tres singulier plaisir'.
The formidably intelligent Anne of France (also known as Anne of Beaujeu) was the daughter of Louis XI and his second wife Charlotte of Savoy. She was co-regent of France with her husband Peter II, Duke of Bourbon during the minority of her younger brother, Charles VIII from 1483 to 1491. During this period the Duke of Milan was Gian Galeazzo Sforza, although the real power was held by his uncle and successor, Ludovico 'Il Moro'.
