FIRST EDITION. Physician, astrologer, historian, and author, Grünpeck contrasts past and present, biblical and historical, in an examination of prophecy and melancholy as influenced by the cycles of sun, moon and planets. Owing to his interest in the occult sciences, Grünpeck's works as a whole were placed on the Index. Stuchs also published a German edition of the Speculum in the same year.
