FIRST EDITION, MOROCCO-BOUND COPY of this fully-illustrated guide. Chantilly's gardens were extensively remodelled in the latter half of the eighteenth century to form one of the earliest and most important examples of the French 'picturesque' style. This work, published shortly afterwards, depicts many of the elements which later shaped the most famous gardens of France. Cohen/de Ricci 704.
