circular box, the independent cover, sides and base enamelled with translucent royal blue on an engine-turned ground of concentric and horizontal reeding scattered with pellets, within frosted gold borders decorated with a green enamelled foliate wavescroll band enclosing split-pearls, the lid centred with an oval watercolour on ivory miniature under glass painted with the bust-length portrait of a young lady in low-cut white dress against a landscape background, within a split-pearl set gold frame
