Lot Essay

Lady Anne Townshend and Lady Charlotte Townshend were the daughters of George Townshend, 4th Viscount Raynham, the 1st Marquess of Townshend (1724-1807) and his second wife, Anne Montgomery, the daughter of Sir William Montgomery, 1st Baronet (b. c. 1758-1819). Lady Anne was married on 26 October 1795 to Harrington Hudson of Bessingby Hall, Yorkshire. Her younger sister, Charlotte, married Sir George William Frederick Osborne, 6th Duke of Leeds, on 17 August 1797.
