CHATEAU LAFITE-ROTHSCHILD

What can be said about Lafite-Rothschild that hasn't already been said? A wine of inimitable class and elegance that inevitably lives up to its first growth classification, Maréchal de Richelieu brought Lafite to the court of Louis XV and referred to it's taste as comparable to "the ambrosia of the Gods of Olympus." What is often noted about older Lafite is its delicacy. When compared to wines from Château Mouton Rothschild, for example, the Lafite comes across softer and more delicate, with a lighter color and more floral bouquet.

Château Lafite-Rothschild--Vintage 1986
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Both lots levels: into neck
"The 1986 possesses outstanding richness, a deep color, medium body, a graceful, harmonious texture, and superb length. The penetrating fragrance of cedar, chestnuts, minerals, and rich fruit is the hallmark of this wine. Powerful, dense, rich and tannic, as well as medium to full-bodied, with awesome extraction of fruit, this Lafite has immense potential. Patience is required. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2030."
