CHATEAU AUSONE
Château Ausone takes its name from the Roman poet Decimus Magnus Ausonius who lived in Bordeaux during the 4th century and who owned approximately 100 acres of vineyard in Saint-Emilion. The modern day estate dates from the 18th century and is alleged to lie within the poet's lands. For many years it was jointly owned by the Dubois-Challon and Vauthier families until the Vauthier's bought out their co-owners in 1997
Production is small, considerably less than Cheval Blanc and less than Pétrus. For this reason, it is difficult to find many vintages of this wine commercially
Château Ausone--Vintage 1990
Saint-Emilion, 1er grand cru classé (A)
In original wooden case
"Now mature-looking; low-keyed, attractive bouquet; a soft, sweet entry, crisp, fragrant and a very dry 'autumnal' finish. Last tasted June 2000 **(**) 2005-2015." MB, Vintage Wine
