Château Cheval-Blanc--Vintage 1961
Saint-Emilion, 1er grand cru classé (A)
Levels: upper mid shoulder; bin soiled labels, lightly corroded capsules, slightly depressed corks, one cut capsule
"Quite the best wine hors classé at an extraordinary dinner in 1996, brilliantly good at Wolf's extensive vertical in 1997, its many layered, almost exotic bouquet growing even richer in the glass. Good length, a slightly nutty, walnut flavour and aftertaste. Most recently, three bottles, two with a touch of oxidation (storage) but the third very good indeed. Last noted at the Russian National Orchestra dinner at Spencer house, London, March 2002. At best *****" MB, Vintage Wine
3 bottles per lot
