DAL FORNO ROMANO

Dal Forno's wines are produced from extremely low yields of Corvina and Rondinella on the bucolic 12.5 hectaure estate near the Classico zone in Veneto. Long known as the "Grape King," Dal Forno's wines are absolutely unlike any other-wines that transport you to another place, wines that saturate your mouth with dried, raisiny intensity. Draconian selection of already small yields satisfy only a fraction of the world's demand for these wines.

Amarone Recioto della Valpolicella--Vintage 1995
Veneto, Del Forno Romano
"The opaque purple-colored 1995 Amarone is nearly perfect. It is reminiscent of super-concentrated blackberry liqueur infused with incense, smoke, and minerals. Full-bodied, dense, and chewy, this huge offering possesses remarkable purity and liveliness for its size and intensity. Amarone is an acquired taste, given its size as well as earthy, tarry characteristics. Certainly this wine reaches new levels of extract and richness, yet is dry, well-balanced, and, because of its extravagant richness, able to hide the whopping 16.5 alcohol it routinely possesses. This is the product of a true genius. It should drink well for a minimum of two decades." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #130 (Aug 2000)
