Musigny--Vintage 1993
Côte de Nuits, de Vogüé
Nicked label, slightly depressed cork
"Still remarkably primary with a nose that is the crystalline essence of black cherry pinot sap though there are the initial hints of secondary aromas and spice notes now in evidence. Massively structured and opulent thick flavors with dense, ripe tannins that are completely buffered by all the extract. This is flat out great and still very much a baby though again, there are just the initial signs of maturity. In my view, this is the best de Vogí Musigny since at least '71 and is a monument in the making as it will live for 50 years without breathing hard, particularly in magnum format. Multiple, and consistent, notes from 750 ml only." BH, November 10, 2006
