MARK OF JOHN ROWBOTHAM, SHEFFIELD, 1775
Each tapering cylindrical beaker fluted and fitting together to simulate a barrel, each engraved with an inscription, each marked underneath
5½ in. (14 cm.) high
9 oz. (282 gr.)
The inscription on each reads 'SR INO WROTTESLEY 1ST REGT' for Sir John Wrottesley, 8th Bt. (1744-1787). Sir John of Wrottesley Hall, Wolverhampton was M.P. for Newcastle-under-Lyme 1768 and for the county of Stafford from 1768-1787. He married Frances, daughter of William 1st Viscount Courtenay in 1770.
