MARK OF ETIENNE-MARC GISCARD, VEVEY, CIRCA 1740
Pear shaped and on three scroll feet, with a part-turned wood side handle, the detachable cover with a pivoting finial silver and ebonised wood vase shaped finial, engraved with a coat-of-arms below a coronet and with initials 'M.S.C', marked underneath
10½ in. (26.5 cm.) high
gross weight 25 oz. (771 gr.)
The arms are those of de Bons, the family originated from Bons-en-Chablais. There were a number of branches of the family in Geneva, the Pays de Gex, Valais and in Holland.
