Details
ADDISON, John (19th century). Malby's Telescopic Companion or Celestial Globe-Atlas. London: Malby and Co., 1848.
2o (422 x 270 mm). Title-page and 20 double-page colored plates (some occasional spotting, most corners and outer margins skilfully repaired). Original gilt-decorated cloth (spine and corners renewed in modern calf, some minor dampstaining).
Later edition of Malby's globe-atlas, after the first edition presumably published in 1845, created from the pieces of a 36-inch globe. Serving a dual purpose, the atlas could either be used in its original form or the sheets could be cut out and joined together according to the instructions to create a three-dimensional globe. RARE: WorldCat lists no libraries with copies of this edition and the British Library lists only a copy of the 1845 edition in their collection.
