2 pages, 4to, boldly penned with a fine signature, integral address leaf with recipient's dockets, integral address leaf in Morris's hand, small seal hole. In fine original condition.
A WHEELER-DEALER ON THE ROPES: "I MUST SUBMIT TO THE HARD FATE & MAKE THE BEST COMPROMIZE I CAN." Concerning an unspecified transaction gone sour, Morris explains that a business associate expected by Carey in Baltimore "had left a sick child & was unwilling to proceed until its fate be determined as it was near the crisis when it must mend or die. He engaged to be back here the first week in October and then to go on to Baltimore[.] He insists that he convey'd a Lot of Ground in Balto. to satisfy Bowley of Riglys Claim of Certificates & that they signed a discharge in Consequence thereof."
"How this may turn out I cannot say, but if he can clear me of the Affair I shall be very glad of it, if he cannot I must submit to the hard fate & make the best Compromize I can. At all events you shall not suffer by it, therefore do not make yourself uneasy...but we shall want your assistance in getting it settled...."
