Original green morocco (worn, with loss to the spine). Provenance: R.W. Cameron (additions and annotations); Duncan [Cameron], R.W.'s son (inscription).
Recording in a clerical hand the pedigree of six Clifton Berley "Stud Stallions", nineteen "Brood Mares" and their produce to 1869, eleven "Horses in Training", four "Yearlings", nine "Foals of 1869 by Leamington." INSCRIBED BY CAMERON, who has added notes of the buyers of the yearlings, the dates the foals by Leamington were weaned, and has added to some of the other entries with details of joint ownership (Glengarry: "jointly owned with L.W. Jerome") and recorded some subsequent buyers (Hartington: "sold to D. Carter Brown 2' of Providence for $3500"). He has also added a list on one of the blank pages at the end of "Mares Served Last Time by Leamington" and Hampton Court.

The Clifton Stud offered three of its most important stallions Leamington, Warminster, and Hampton Court, seventeen brood mares, some three year olds and yearlings for auction on the 15th October 1869. INSCRIBED BY CAMERON who has added a few penciled notes concerning pedigree to one or two entries for "Brood Mares." According to a report in the New York Times the following day the sale was not well attended and even the famous thoroughbred Leamington failed to attract a buyer. The stud held a further auction in 1871 and Leamington was eventually sold to Aristides Welch in 1872.
